Apply to work with BBC The Social

By sending your submission to us, you are agreeing that we may use your contribution on BBC platforms.

We may use your video, audio, text, image, age, first name, location and social handle.

Depending on the type of contribution you are sending, we will ask for different types of personal data which, as well as the above may include your second name, email address, telephone number.

At times we may also ask for contributions on a subject which is classed as special category data. This may include: health information, sexual orientation, religious or philosophical beliefs, gender, ethnicity or political opinions.

All data will be stored in line with the BBC’s data protection policy.

If you’re bursting with ideas, have your own presence on a social media or digital platform and you love making engaging digital content, we want to hear from you.

BBC The Social is looking for the next generation of young creatives to make content that you want to see.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have made content for us or other platforms before, we now have different ways for you to get involved and get creative.

LOCAL CONTENT

We’re looking for people from all over Scotland to apply to work with us and create content that showcases all of Scotland and the issues that are important to young people no matter where you are from.

Think of our 'Wee Guide To' 'Tales Of' or 'Top 5' Videos

You don’t have to have experience in filming or presenting, just creative ideas and an interest in digital content.

Local content will be filmed and produced by you, the creative, and the final edit completed by The Social team.

SPECIALISED CONTENT

If you’ve made content for us before or another digital platform (onscreen or behind the camera) and you are bursting with creative ideas for BBC Scotland audiences then this is the opportunity for you.

We're looking for young creatives with ideas that would fall under the following three topics.

*News / Topical
*Sport
*Entertainment & Culture

We’re looking for the ideas to sit alongside BBC Scotland News, BBC Scotland Sport and Arts and Culture which cover the headlines from an angle that’s relevant to young audiences. We want the tone, style and vibe to be authentic to digital and social media platforms and true to how younger audiences consume their news, sport and entertainment. Think about subverting expectations by covering a story/ topic from another unique angle that will grab people’s attention.

We’re looking for creatives who have a demonstrable experience of presenting digital content or filming and producing content for platforms and/or broadcast. You must be willing to work with other parts of the BBC to make high impact content.

This specialised content will be filmed and produced by The Social team.

When applying to make specialised content, please make sure your idea is fully formed and delivered in a pitch style.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Anyone currently living in Scotland who is over 18 and eager to make interesting digital content.

DO YOU NEED EXPERIENCE?

You don't need any prior experience to pitch ideas for local content but bear in mind this will be filmed and edited by you.

We do ask for onscreen or film experience to pitch ideas for specialised content which will be shot and edited by The Social team.

DO I GET PAID?

You do! Once an idea is commissioned by The Social team, we will discuss payment for what you will be doing.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Local Content

If you apply and your idea is selected, we'll work with you to develop your script and idea for the video. It will then be up to you to film, edit and deliver your version to us by the deadline set by the Producer.

Specialised Content

For the specialised content, we will work with you to develop your idea and script and introduce you to the team you will be working with. We will film and edit your content in collaboration with other parts of BBC Scotland.

CAN YOU APPLY MORE THAN ONCE?

Yes, this is a rolling application form which means there is no open or close date. We will be looking for you to get in touch with any ideas you think will fit with our Local and specialised content remit.
